2 4GHz antenna length

Why does my AR600 have a short and a long antenna? One looks like it might be four times the frequency length of the other.

The antennas on the Spektrum AR600 (and AR500) are monopole antennas and are actually the same length, it's just that one of them has been extended away from the receiver body to improve the area covered for signal reception.
The extension also enables you to position that antenna in such a way that it is perpendicular (at right angels) to the other one, by bending the wire round in a ninety degree curve - this also improves signal reception and minimises the risk of signal loss.

"It's just that one of them has been extended away from the receiver body" How?
Is it like RG174 with the shielding left on, until a specific wave length is meet.

Oops! Just looked again. Monopole antenna.
That's ok, I need new glasses to put my kit together anyway.
