A2208-12 1800kv What Prop?

by Donald
(Windsor, NC)

The motor I have is A2208-12 1800kv, that’s all I know. I have used the 9x5 and 8x4 props on it. I ran it with a 11x6 but after 30 sec the ESC was warm.
What is the best prop for a foam plane 14oz in the air. Also the same motor can I put a 7x4 on it for a pusher jet?

A2208-12 1800kv What Prop

Matching props to electric motor set ups is always a bit of trial and error. Personally I'd recommend putting the model data through the MotoCalc program (www.motocalc.com) for a choice of best recommendations.
Also this post at rcgroups - http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1595512 - may be of use, there's a comprehensive test of different props for that motor but, again, it's going to be trail and error to see which works best with the model.

High Kv motors
by: Roger-A

Your Prop ideas are much too large for a motor with Kv=1800. With these conditions look to use 6" or less with 3S and 7" with 2S batteries. If you want to swing large props choose a motor with a Kv of 1200 or lower.
