Aileron servo installation problem

I just bought an RTF P-51 rc plane. When I put the servo in between the wings it doesn't fit down into the hole; the wire that comes from it keeps it higher on one end. How far down should the servo go?
Also, when I fix the wings into the fuselage the wing flaps barely work, if at all. I can see where the push rods have been scraping under the fuselage. The wing flaps do work when not fixed to the fuselage.
Can somebody give me advice on what to do, thanks.

It's usually normal for servos to be installed in such a way that they sit down on their lugs (the fixing holes on either side). This way, the servo horn is clear of the wing surface. If the cable is getting in the way, then you need to cut away where the cable is hitting, so that the cable can sit inside the servo hole without preventing the servo from sliding all the way in.
It sounds like the push rods are snagging the fuselage because the servo is sitting too high in the wing. If cutting away for the cable doesn't sort this problem, then you may need to deepen the servo hole, or reroute the pushrods slightly so they don't foul on anything.
