CitPro builing experience
by: Lucky Bird

I am completing a CitPro; about 80% complete. I, too, have had problems with clarity in plans; also, the instruction book has numerous ambiguities and errors. But with patience I have worked through them. Anxious to fly!

Body with cowling and struts

Body with cowling and struts

Learn from me and contact the aircraft manufacturer before buying an engine for your plane... I have four now, one too small and one too large. Future projects will be determind by my engine stock pile, Ha Ha!!
But still on my first and going strong. Working on the tail section now. Struts were a nightmare but got through. Feel free to leave a comment, would like your feedback.
David

Nice building
by: Pete

Looks great David - that's a nice size plane ;-) Can't wait to see it finished! This website has a classified ads page, so maybe you can get back some money on those engines!!

Sense of scale!
by: Pete

Wing looks great - comparing it to the moose head makes it easy to judge the size.
4 servos... if that includes the engine one, that means only one servo for both ailerons? I would have thought a servo for each on a plane that size, but don't quote me on that ;-)
Depends on the power of the servo of course...

.61 ASP nitro or 25cc Husqvarna... how would you go? I think big and fast. Still working hard but not to far to go!

Below, I still have the wing tips and struts to finish then cover, but getting closer every day....

Citabria Pro

Below, still going strong... I've changed the look from the original Pro but used the same color scheme...

Go with gas!
by: Pete

It's looking good! Personally I would probably choose the Husqvarna, but I'm not sure why. I just think a big plane should have a big engine! ;-) Running costs will be less, too...

I got a Citabria model used for $25
by: Anonymous

Hello David,
I purchased a used Balsa USA Citabria kit for $25. It is an older style kit. The instructions and plans are not too easy to follow. I am eager to start building it.

Engine choice
by: marco

You said you have bought 4 engines now but which one did you choose? I bought a 26cc zg engine, I hope it is not too much. I saw your picturs but is it flying now? Greeting from the Netherlands!

Better gasser
by: Alejandro

Hi David, I'm a Spanish (so sorry for my english) and I'm building too a Balsa USA Pro. The engine I've selected is a MVVS 26 gas. It's a little bit heavy, but no much more than a 1.20 FS. So, my advice: put a gasser on the nose.

Good flights!

I've got the same model, and only recently got it flying. Got a Fuji-Imvac 24 cc engine. Plenty of power to pull the 12 pounds of airplane. Flies well!

Flying?

Is this plane flying yet? What size engine are you using?

Citabria wheel pants
by: Bob 43

Where can I find some quality wheel pants for my Citabria, short of making them myself? I'm using 4"x1-1/2" air tires to soften all the ground handling and damage.

Left wing under construction...

Work in progress, building on solid core maple door, black, from China Lake Lumber (10 bucks) and 1 inch dow fome (6 bucks).
Using guilting pins instead of 'T' pins, can't get them up here.
Can't wait to see it in the air!

Great (and cheap!) idea for a modelling board David! That wing looks really solid... nice job so far!
