Battery won't fit easily in my Super Cub battery compartment.

I just purchased a HobbyZone Super Cub and the Li-Po battery seems too large for the compartment. I can force it in at an angle, but that could pinch the wires and will the little plastic door hold up OK?

Re: Super Cub battery pack

It seems to be a common issue; the pack is a tight fit but so long as care is taken and the wires are not repeatedly kinked and straightened, and hence weakened, then you'll be fine. The hatch should hold up but if in doubt use some tape over it for extra security.

Tight battery compartment fire
by: mglenn

Nice post!
Today is the second day owning a Super Cub. I have been concerned about the tight fit from the beginning. Today while at the flying field I had just put the battery in the compartment as carefully as possible and was just about to plug in the battery when the battery ' park zone' started smoking.
I was fortunate enough to pull the tight fitting battery out before the smoke turned into some kind of firework snake.
This is a safety issue and I for one will not fly this plane without modifying the compartment or removing it. This issue is going to hurt someone.
I will be calling Park-zone tomorrow.

Battery Fire
by: Anonymous

First day owning the Super Cub and while trying to force the battery in it caught on fire and burned a hole in the side of my plane - not happy at all!
