Beginer helicopter flying

by Laretta
(Layton, Utah)

My son has found an Exi 450 carbon helicopter on line, it looks like it flys well but I don't know - I hate spending money for 2 minutes of flight and then crash. Do you know anything about this helicopter and have any suggestions for beginners?

Hi Laretta - this type of heli isn't for beginners and if your son hasn't had any experience and tries to fly it on his own then it will crash. Such helis are very hard to master, although ultimately very rewarding.
Depending on his age, you might want to start him off with something called a coaxial helictoper, these are very easy to fly right out the box (more info at http://www.rc-airplane-world.com/coaxial-rc-helicopters.html.
If his heart is set on a more complex model like the 450 then I recommend trying to use an rc flight simulator to practice on, or seek out a local club for some 1-on-1 instruction.
