E-flite Blade mCP X overview
The E-flite Blade mCP X is the first sub-micro size electric rc helicopter to be collective pitch (CP) and flybarless and because of that it marks yet another milestone in radio control helicopter development and production.
E-flite have certainly been leading the way in affordable hobby grade electric rc helicopters in recent years so it's probably no surprise that the first flybarless sub-micro heli should come from them.
Flybarless rotor systems are only just (early 2011) coming on to the scene as far as mass-produced radio control helicopters are concerned, and it's inevitable that flybars will probably become a thing of the past.
A flybarless system essentially uses the same electronic functions that's used in an rc helicopter tail rotor gyro, on the swashplate to stabilise fore/aft and left/right cyclic movements (read more about rc helicopter controls). This negates the need for a flybar which, amongst other things, basically does the same job.
Not having a flybar on the mCP X also means less drag on the rotor head which means longer flight times and better performance. And, in the event of a crash, less parts to replace!
The E-flite Blade mCP X isn't intended for beginners, but for intermediate and experienced pilots who want a fully functioning collective pitch rc helicopter that's 3D capable the mCP X is a winner. It's the perfect size for indoor flight and as the following video shows, the heli can certainly handle all that's thrown at it...

- Length: 9.25 in (235mm).
- Control System: Flybarless.
- Experience Level: Intermediate.
- Recommended Environment: Indoor/Outdoor.
- Very low disc loading results in high maneuverability and good collective response.
- Lightest heli in its class.
- Two sets of blades included, fast-flight and high-performance.
- Robust, long-lasting dual-ball bearing supported linear cyclic servos.
- Two high-performance flight batteries included.
Like many other Horizon Hobby rc aircraft, the E-flite Blade mCP X is available in RTF and BNF versions for those with their own DSM2 or newer DSMX radio. The RTF (Ready To Fly) version comes with the especially developed DX4e transmitter. Incorporated software exclusive to the Dx4e and Blade mCP X allows easy switching between flight modes, depending on your desired style of flying.
