Can't remove propeller

by Rickster
(Germantown)

I put on a 14x4W prop (Saito 82 4 cycle) and forgot to ream the prop. In my haste I spun the prop on then tightened the nut...realizing then it will be a bear to get off. I used a vice grips to try to turn it counter clockwise... no luck.
Anyone have a secret to removing / cutting a prop off? Get a Dremel tool?
Any advice?

Removing prop

Bad luck Rickster - a Dremel or fine-bladed junior hacksaw is probably the easiest way if there's no way it's coming off the shaft; carefully make a diagonal cut through the prop hub to relieve the tension. Alternatively you could try heating the shaft/prop hub with a hot air gun, maybe the plastic softens enough to give.
Another thought - have you got an electric starter? Maybe the sudden movement (operate it just for a split-second) will loosen the prop...

Removing prop from IC motor

If you can get the exhaust off and are able to safely insert a piece of hardwood (i.e.engine bearer) without coming in contact with the valves, between the piston crown and combustion chamber, you should be able to wind the prop off anticlockwise. Go carefully and good luck!
