Learning to fly RC sucks!

I am very new to the pastime. I bought a $30.00 foamy from the local electronics store and enjoyed flying it in a soccer field. I decided that I had such fun I would take the next step...
I went to the local hobby shop and bought a Skyfly 2. So out I went with plane in hand and no assistance. First flight it got off the ground and nose dived about 20 feet into the ground. Of course, the carbon fibre stick that makes the body snaps right off the bat. Well, I took it home and jerry rigged it with the help of popsicle sticks, glue and teflon tape, and have proceeded to crash it and repair it upwards of 35 times. All that I can say is that it is very fun to fix the plane and see if it will fly afterwards.
I did not get discouraged, in fact I went out and bought a Nextstar mini to crash, I mean fly, but I think I will wait for next season. I will be joining my local club, I got a flight simulator to practise over the winter, (I now know what I was doing wrong) and I hope to move up to a full size model at the end of next season.
I guess what I am trying to say, to anyone who may be interested, it seems to be a very fun hobby and crashing, in a weird sense, is part of the fun as well!

the right plane helps also.theres alot of good
ARF trainers out there. I found the high wing
wooden trainers fly best.stay away from duraplanes (they fly like a truck!)and can be difficult to repair Its a fun hobby but you gotta pay the dues so to speak Good luck You might want to look at the crash section on this page under dumbthumbs and duraplanes thats my plane!
take care!

Hang in there, Bill! Crashing is indeed all part of the action, although it sounds like you've had more than your fair share of crashes already - hats off to you for not giving up!
The simulator will certainly help, as will joining a club where you can get some side by side instruction. It's a great hobby to be involved with, so stick with it ;-)
