Megatech Ambassador
The Megatech Ambassador follows on from the Freedom Flyer, a very popular RTF electric rc airplane of Cessna-based design.
With the Ambassador, Megatech have entered the realms of brushless motor and lithium polymer power, equipping the airplane with a powerful 400 outrunner brushless motor and 3 cell (11.1V) 850mAh Li-Po battery pack. Such combinations give rc airplanes lots of punch and extended flight times, compared to brushed motor and NiMH powertrains.
Another difference between the Megatech Ambassador and their Freedom Flyer is that the Ambassador is 4 channel as standard. The Freedom Flyer was 3 channel, with an optional upgrade kit for aileron control. Having aileron control gives much smoother flying characteristics, and of course lets you pull off aerobatic maneuvers much more easily.
Yet, like its predecessor, the high wing trainer-type design of the Megatech Ambassador gives very stable flying characteristics, just what you need when learning to fly rc airplanes. And as with all other Megatech rc airplanes, the Ambassador is fully RTF, so there's no building work for you to do other than installing the transmitter batteries and attaching the wing!
Megatech haven't supplied the Ambassador with the latest 2.4GHz spread spectrum rc technology but have stuck with the traditional 72MHz radio system, presumably to keep costs down. But it's no bad thing, and the transmitter has some good features including dual rates to all control surfaces, servo reverse and a trainer switch enabling Buddy Box use with compatible transmitters.
And the micro receiver and micro servos inside the Ambassador are removable, letting you either use them in other airplanes or replacing them with your own rc system.

In summary, the Megatech Ambassador is a good all round 'sport' electric rc RTF airplane with good, steady flight characteristics for learning, yet plenty of aerobatic capability and power.
