Micro RC boats

Micro rc boats are a fairly recent addition to the world of model radio control boating, and have been made possible thanks to the rapid advance in rc technology, with components getting smaller and cheaper over the last few years.

Obviously intended as toys rather than for the serious boat modeler, scaled-down electric rc boats like the Venom Pool Racers, shown below, provide a great deal of fun at a very low cost. They are ideal for any small area of water and even a small garden swimming pool or medium size pond can be turned into a large-scale race course where these boats are concerned!

Like the hugely popular 'micro racer' mini rc cars, these boats have non-proportional control (ie only on/off and left/right) but that's perfectly adequate for racing round the pond.

Racing two or more micro rc boats like this together on a small area of water such as, say, a swimming pool or pond is a great deal of fun but of course make sure that you buy them on different frequencies! Fortunately Venom are selling their Pool Racers with different frequency options, so that they can be raced together.

Setting up a small oval course with some anchored floats, either bought ones or home-made, is a great way to spend some time on days when you're not in the mood for the bigger stuff!
