Not all crashes turn out bad!

Recently, I purchased a nice airplane called the Hobbyzone Champ. I had owned two other "planes" in the past and you can probably guess what happened to those! (In other words, they never got airborn).
So, I decided to give the world of RC flight another chance after looking at the Champ on this very website (and reading multiple reviews!). When it arrived I took it down to the local middle school and set it down on the track and prepared to take off. In all honesty, I was starting to doubt the Champ and was starting to decide whether or not to fly at all.
Well, my siblings were getting impatient, so I gave myself the go-ahead. I threw open the throttle and my heart skipped a beat as it started buzzing skyward at an alarming rate. I am still not sure why I did this but I immediately killed the throttle and she came back down as quickly as she went up- and burried herself nose-first in the track.
Running up to my so-thought ruined little yellow plane, I was overjoyed to find only a few scratches in the paint! Well, needless to say, I have enjoyed many, many flights with the Champ ever since and I still have yet to break something!

So, that is my crash story, and I am glad that it turned out survivable to both the plane and the pilot's confidence!

Good to hear!
by: Pete

Great to read about a crash that hasn't destroyed a plane! That's an advantage to small, lightweight planes like the HobbyZone Champ - they carry very little momentum so when they do hit the ground they rarely get damaged badly.
But.... try to avoid crashing in the first place, that's also a good way to avoid damage! :-)

My Champ gravitates to metal fences
by: Newbiestill

It was a beautiful fall day with a 4mph wind blowing....this was my 7th flight of my HobbyZone Champ. I had hand launched my Champ fine and it gained some height nicely but then that right turn just didn't happen the way I expected it to...
My Champ saw that metal fence and drove straight for it ripping off one of its wings completely.
I was mad at first but I am trying to figure out why it went for that fence....not enough thrust and elevator is why it died on that fence....Practice Practice Practice I guess.... :-)

Champs are tough!
by: Jimbo

The Champ was my first plane, and I'm looking at it right now in it's 5th complete rebuild! VERY tough little plane that can withstand some nasty incidents.
If nothing else, I've learned a hundred ways to repair and reinforce that little plane and make it even tougher. Best thing I did for it was to modify it to use 300mah batteries. It'll stay flying for 15 minutes at a time on each battery.
The Champ is a great plane, I just wish they would offer an aileron conversion kit when it's time to move up.
I'm practising 4 channel flight on a P-51 micro, And have rebuilt it 4 times now.....BAhahaha
