ParkZone F4F Wildcat
This is the ParkZone F4F Wildcat electric rc airplane that nicely extends ParkZone's hugely popular warbird range.
The real Grumman F4F Wildcat saw action in the earlier years of WWII, notably against the stronger Japanese Zero fighters particularly in the infamous Pearl Harbour attack. Predominantly a fighter made for carrier operation, the Wildcat wasn't the most graceful of warbirds and did have its limitations, but it got the job done and was a much loved airplane by those who flew it.
The ParkZone F4F Wildcat is modeled from the fighter flown by the US Navy's first recognized air ace, Lieutenant Commander Edward "Butch" O'Hare. As with the other PZ warbirds the scale detailing is basic but good and accurate to the original, complete with Japanese 'kill' stickers below the cockpit, in which a somewhat relaxed Lt. O'Hare sits!
A dummy radial engine and moulded retracts complete the look, and if you wanted to go to town some weathering would be easy to do to give the Wildcat a more authentic look.
The F4F Wildcat isn't offered in RTF form but can be purchased in the PNP (Plug-N-Play) and the increasingly popular BNF (Bind-N-Fly) forms.
The motor is the trusted 480 size brushless outrunner as used in the Trojan T-28, P-51 BL and Corsair ParkZone warbirds; this motor gives plenty of power and is smooth and quiet. An 18A ESC is installed and a 1300mAh 11.1V (3S) 15C pack is included in the BNF version; this is a minimum capacity pack for this plane and ParkZone recommend up to 2200mAh one for better flight times.
Just like the other warbirds in the range, this ParkZone F4F Wildcat is a smooth flyer and looks great in the air. Full 4 channel control (motor power, aileron, elevator & rudder) gives a good aerobatic capability and all the favorite warbird maneuvers can be performed without problem!
