Prop Sizing

by Matthew Boone
(Ennis Montana US)

I am building a Giles 202 size 50 electric, with a an Exceed motor and 60A controller - any suggestions as to starting prop size?
Also, the first prop I bought has a tiny shaft hole and the motor has an approx. 3/8 shaft.

Thanks!

Matt

Prop size suggestions for electric are really more complicated than for glow plug, so I'd recommend running your model details through the MotoCalc program (http://www.motocalc.com ). If you don't want to purchase it, there's a freebie trial which, if I remember, is the full version but for a limited time.

Another couple of useful links that I've referred to are http://www.4-max.co.uk/recommended-setups.htm and http://stores.ebay.com/Heads-Up-RC/Brushless-Motor-Guide-and-FAQ.html, just for a general kind of setting up reference.
