What is meant by 3 channel and 4 channel radio?

 Difference between 3 and 4 channel

The word 'channel' refers to each separate function that you control on the airplane. So, a 3 channel plane may have control to motor, elevator and rudder, while a 4 channel plane would have control to motor, elevator, rudder and aileron.
