Royal 46 Glow Engine

by Kevin
(Independence, Missouri)

I have a Royal 46 glow engine that won't run. I sent it back and they said they fixed it, but it just won't start.
I've had people that are good with engines try and couldn't get it to run. Royal are out of business now, and I'd to know if there is anyone who works on engines?

Royal 46

Sorry Kevin, I don't know of any glow plug engine mechanic services. If it was mine, I'd completey strip it down, clean all the parts and reassemble - it might be just 'gunged up' with old fuel residue. Does it turn over OK, and does it even fire at all?

Royal .46 will not run

Try removing the glow plug and soaking the engine overnight in a can of Marvel Mystery oil. I have had very good luck with hard starting engines using this old technique. Sometimes the metal in the engine can pick up contaminants that prevent the catalytic combustion of menthanol which is essential to the operation of a nitro engine. Marvel Mystery oil will leach these contaminants out of the metal.

clean engines run well!

Remove the front housing with crank shaft and clean well with acetone. Cut a new gasket and reassemble. The ball bearing gums up from fuel. Use after-run oil after each use.
