Transmitters and receivers

Yesterday I purchased a Cessna 182 RTF 18A brushless with 4 servo variations. I am new to RC and I do not know what transmitter and receiver I require for this plane.
I have 2 transmitters that I got on Ebay (I don't know why) but I don't think they will be any good for this plane. Hope someone can help.
It has a 11.1v battery.

Hi John, can you post a link to the exact Cessna you have?
Any 4 (or more) channel radio system should work, if you need to buy a new system I would get a 2.4GHz one instead of the MHz one. Which receivers do you have?

Hi Pete, I have joined the forum. The transmitters I have are J line Qattro 4ch 36MHz, digital proportional, mode 2 with an AA battery housing which is removable, there is a no.N12891 on the bottom. Mode 2. JR 610m 6ch 36mhz micro receiver. The other one is a Turborix 6ch 2.4ghz mode 1, programmable gear no.Ho62820 with an 8 AA battery compartment not removable and a 6ch 2.4ghz digital receiver system. Both are digital proportional, what ever that means. The info on the plane is Cessna 182 Skyartec 18A, n9528 with a 11.1v battery, brushless w/4 servo variations. That is it mate, now you know a lot more than me.

I think my choice would be to install the J-line Quattro. Despite the fact that 2.4GHz is more desirable these days, I've never heard of 'Turborix' and am guessing it's a cheapie Chinese brand that might not be as reliable as it should be... At least the Quattro system is by JR, one of the top radio manufacturers. Actually I think that system is discontinued now, but it's a safer choice in my view.
Digital proportional is what nearly all systems are these days; proportional just means that the control surfaces move in accordance with your stick movements ie move the stick just a little bit and the control surface only moves a little bit... And motor power too of course. Non-proportional would be just left/right and stop/go, and nothing in between.

Thanks again Pete. I finally got your book (well done) I picked up two 2ch.toys to (thats 3 2s) play with, before smashing anything worthwhile. One of them has a nose like a third rate boxer.
I have a 4ch.P-51 mustang (to look at), a 4ch.Cessna balsa wood (to build and understand r/c) it will never fly and a Cessna 182 which will go when broken nose retires. cheers

Nice one Swish - you've done the right thing by getting a few cheapies to have a practice on, and a couple of good ones to use after and to learn about. Glad the book is helping you out, that's good to hear - cheers.
