Tribute 36 & Spektrum DX6i
This Tribute 36 is a really fun plane to fly! I'm still working on getting it set up to where I want it to be.
The radio is my first computerized radio so there is a lot to learn about it as well, the dual rates are awesome! The OS 46AX is a great engine.
I have had one deadstick with it (trim was too low and I throttled down too much), compared to at least 8 or 9 with my Aviastar 46 - I guess there's something to be said about quality.
A word about the Spektrum radio... It's a really nice piece of equipment. It doesn't tell you anywhere but you need a switch harness that has 3-wire leads on it. The binding plug uses the two outside terminals for the bind so my 2-wire leads would not work - I had to borrow a switch from another flyer.
The recommended power for this plane is the Evolution 36. Using the 46 size, I had to do a bit of modification to the engine mount with my Dremel to make it fit, but it worked out really well.
I had this plane ready to fly in about half the time as my ARF trainer, even with having to glue the hinges in.
So beginners beware - this hobby can get right out of control! I have already bought a Great Planes J-3 Cub kit for my winter build and I'm buying a ParkZone Super Decathlon from my son's friend. All part of the fun!
