Well.....that went well

I just finished my first ever r/c plane, it was a Venom Island-Hopper, it was a beuautiful looking aircraft. My dad took me down to the oval for my fist flight, I took off quite well, I flew down the lengh of the oval but the man I bought it off from the shop at Newcastle (Frontline Hobbies) the man never told me it only flys for about 7-10 minutes. I turned around and started heading back for the land but the battery ran out and my plane just went all over the place; I couldn't control it, it went up then down turning left quite sharp and just went BANG straight into the ground. Amazingly, much to my delight, the only thing that broke was the propeller - luckily it came with 3 spares.

Bad luck Liam, but you've learned one of the most valuable lessons in rc flying - don't run the battery pack down too much! You weren't to know, the guy who sold it to you should have explained that little bit of info. Sounds like you had a very lucky escape with just a broken prop, could have been much worse...

BEC
by: croswind

Did it have a BEC ? battery eliminator circuit? Those are supposed to cut off the motor power while there's still enough juice to control the plane. Good luck next time!
