24" Sopwith Pup - continued

by Quorneng
(Cheshire)

The problem with a small biplane like this is that once the top wing has been fitted there is virtually no access to the fuselage so all the RC equipment has to be "built in".
The elevator is connected to its 3.7gm servo with scale run control cables (5lb fishing line). The four ailerons will be linked by a "closed loop" cable system once the top wing is in place.
The U/C and tail skid use elastic cotton as the bungee cords.
The 500mAh battery is inserted from underneath just behind the firewall.
It should weigh just under 4.5 ounces all up.

Good progress with the Pup!
by: Pete

Looking good, is the engine built from scratch? How will you keep the correct tension on the control lines?
I look forward to following the complete build - keep us updated when you can, thanks!

Mono filament fishing line
by: Anonymous

The 5lb mono filament fishing line is quite stretchy so by tensioning the lines a bit it ensures there is no slack. The flying wires will use heavier 15lb line.
The Monosoupape is scratch built from 2mm depron, weighs only 2gms and so far has all stayed in place right up to 6000 rpm!
