72MHz Transmitters and receivers

I have an FM 72MHz radio with a channel 40 DC crystal. Can any receiver with an FM 72MHz on channel 40 work, or does it have to be bound to the transmitter somehow?

Can you be more specific on the tx (ie which make?). You should be OK with any 72MHz rx, but it's always best to match tx and rx make-to-make, and use identically matching crystals.
Only 2.4GHz systems need to be bound, not 72MHz.
