E-flite Apprentice -electric moment

Have been flying just over a year. Went through many smaller scale rc electrics and many dollars trying to find the one that would make a beginner gain confidence and ability.
There are many planes out there to choose from and prices cover a wide range. Don't "sucker" in to some of the cheaper, smaller planes. You will go through a lot of money hoping to find the right fit.
It is well worth getting one or two well designed and sizeable planes as you will definitely begin building those skills. I have a Super Cub that lives up to all the good hype you see on the product and recently bought the Apprentice by E-flite. Flew the Apprentice 3 times and it is the difference between day and night. Was hesitant to go from 3 channel to 4 with ailerons, but wanted to "graduate" from basic loops and dives. Practiced many!!! hours on sim.
Apprentice actually has more power and performs better acrobatics than I thought possible. On 2nd flight, (first with experienced pilot), and solo... I looped, did aileron rolls, flew inverted, pulled out of inverted with outside loop, and performed hammer heads. Had not done any of these maneuvers (sp)before.
Brushless outrunner motor is great. Actually need to watch that you don't over power, especially on take off. If you want to really get going try the E-flite Apprentice.

E-flite Apprentice

Yes, I've had the pleasure of flying one - they really are great planes. Not the cheapest of trainers but an excellent package all the same, and as you rightly say well worth spending the money on! And having ailerons makes all the difference ;-)

Kamco Kadet
by: Winco

I found one of the best trainers available to help beginers gain confidence was the Kamco Kadet. It was found in Kit form, but a pal of mine has the plan somewhere.
It wasn't the most elegant of planes, but ticked all the right boxes and was powered by .25 ic (at the time). I really would recommend this model to anyone starting out. On 3 or 4 channel (rudder, aileron or both) it was stable with or without dihedral and would be perfect for an electric set-up. I taught my son, best mate, neighbour and one or two others the basics on mine, and within a year or so, my (then) 10 year old son was getting placed in club competitions! Sorry I don't have a picture, but if anyone is interested, I'll try and get more info/plan...
