What is the best way to put your fingers on the sticks of an rc airplane transmitter?

I'd say it comes down to personal preference... I operate the sticks with my thumbs resting lightly on each stick. But, I know a fair few fliers who hold the sticks between thumb and index finger. I've tried that way but wasn't comfy with it.
My suggestion is to try both ways and see which you feel better with. If you can get access to an rc flight simulator, give that a go ;-)
