Gas RC Mustang P-51
(Hanger 9 PTS Advanced Trainer)
The Hanger 9 gas rc Mustang is a very nice example of an RTF nitro powered P-51 Mustang, without doubt one of the most popular scale rc airplanes that modelers love to fly.
P-51 Mustangs have always been favorite subjects for scale rc enthusiasts, but in the past wanting an rc Mustang usually meant having to build from a kit and plans. Nowadays, thanks to the availability of good quality RTF airplanes, radio control Mustangs are being enjoyed by many more rc pilots at a much earlier stage of learning to fly radio control.

Hanger 9's P-51 PTS trainer (PTS: Progressive Trainer System) has been designed not only as a realistic 4 channel scale model but also as a low-wing trainer, with some interesting features not found on many other rc airplanes, particularly warbirds!
These include transparent plastic extensions that fit onto the outer leading edge of the wing to increase lift at slower flying speeds, and removable air brakes that fit onto the undercarriage to help reduce the speed of the model by significantly increasing drag to the model for learning.
Also featured are 2-position flaps, also to reduce airspeed, which can be upgraded to fully functional landing flaps with the addition of a 5th servo.
The picture below shows the transparent extensions and flaps:
This particular rc Mustang is fitted with an Evolution '40' glow plug engine, renowned for their quiet running noise and easy starting, thanks to the engine being fully set-up and tuned in the factory. And the supplied radio gear is equally as trustworthy; the 6 channel spread spectrum 2.4GHz DX6i set is ideal for both beginners and advanced flyers alike.
Being 4 channel means that of course the Mustang is fully aerobatic and makes a very nice 'sport' flyer for when you've mastered basic flight.
