GWS E-Starter

GWS E-Starter

Helicopters have been the rule in my house but an airplane still goes up!
This GWS E-Starter is my very first plane, and my introduction to building them. While this model was only 38 dollars out of the box I was able to use spare components (servos, AR6100 & DX7) from my helicopter building to keep the cost at a minimum.
The result was hours upon hours of delicate assembly. Styrofoam isn't my favorite material but finally someone put that packing material mess to good use!

Flying this bird is much more relaxing than the high anxiety of helis. It's almost like you could take off, put the transmitter down, go make a sandwich and come back to it still flying circles.

So I'm up and into another fun hobby that I know is only the beginning. The next plane will climb in both price and performance and I look forward to learning more with each model. Anyone have ideas on a good (balsa) kit?

The perfect photo?
by: Pete

Another great page, Chad - thanks for sharing!!
An rc plane, helicopter, and an array of stringed instruments on the wall - everything that should be in a photo! ;-)

Balsa
by: David McCallum

I am working on a balsa citabria aerobatic pro 1/4 scale made by Balsa USA. They have a great tecnical support team, and the kits are very detailed. It can be very expensive but if you have been flying helicopters you know what I mean.
Take a look at my work on this page and give feedback thanks

Great starter plane. Try the TowerPro 2409-12 BLDC on this plane and you will have fun. Use 3S lipo.

A good balsa kit would be the black horse models Twister.

Things have REALLY changed
by: Chad

Turns out that I've gone a little beyond the foamy.., I now have an AJ Slick 42 and MX Precision Aerobatic bird to alternate at the field.., these things are easy to fly compared to helicopters and my son has joined the fray!! I'll try to get some pictures up soon.

Cheers!

It's going great, Pete! Not a good year for the business really but I've put much time into development in between the lulls. How are you!??
