HobbyZone Super Cub
The HobbyZone Super Cub is a nice scale representation of the popular full size trainer airplane, the Piper Super Cub which is itself based on and upgraded from the much loved J3 Cub, one of the most popular trainers of its day.
The high wing stability makes the Super Cub a perfect entry level electric rc airplane, as HobbyZone intends it to be, and the manufacturers have indeed gone a few steps further by including their reliable Anti-Crash Technology™ to ensure safer flying for the novice.
A small onboard 'computer' connects the control surface movement with two sensors, one on top of the fuselage and the other underneath. Any serious change in the airplane's attitude in relation to the horizontal is detected by the sensors, and the necessary inputs are made to the control surfaces to correct the mistake.
Of course, this anti-crash technology within the Super Cub can be turned off, for when you've mastered basic flying and are ready to try some aerobatics.
The HobbyZone Super Cub comes completely Ready To Fly (RTF) with proportional 3 channel radio control system to motor, elevator and rudder. The combination of these 3 channels allows a smooth transition from basic flying to learning some more advance maneuvers, such as barrel rolls and stall turns.
HobbyZone has also improved ground handling with a steerable tail wheel.
'Taildraggers' can have a habit of turning in sharp circles on the ground if rudder control is not used effectively, and a steerable tail wheel eliminates this problem completely.
The X-Port add-ons familiar with HobbyZone pilots are also an added attraction to the Super Cub, allowing some aerial fun such as bomb or parachute dropping from the airplane.
