Hobbyzone Super Cub, great for beginners

Hobbyzone Super Cub, great for beginners

Well, as the title states I am a beginner at this hobby. My plane is very stock for now while I attempt to fly it around parks; the only "custom" is the paint.
If any one out there is reading this, here is my opinion on this plane; all I can really say about it is that it's very very durable for the beginner pilet! I flew it for the first time with one of my buddies who bought the same plane and we had lots of fun.
One warning is to be very careful with the throttle, I broke mine on the pre-flight check of the prop. Hopefully the hobby shop I bought it from will be understanding of this minor problem. But, when it's in the air it flys very nicely and even gliding it handles very well. Thats all from me for now.

Good choice, Andy! The HobbyZone Super Cub is really popular. What's the custom paint job?

Very Nice Airplane *durable*
by: devin {13}

This plane is amazingly durable, I have had it for 3 years and broke the wing in half 2 times, snapped the tail and nose dove 5 times and still am flying it.
I have now figured that it is better to fly at night and I'm doing much better and am landing good, but after a while the gear loosens and will come out on hard landings... but it is a very nice airplane!!

Hobby Zone Super Cub
by: Warren

My first plane and I love it. It has been VERY durable and easily repaired when my "landings" didn't always work out as planned. Flying in low or no wind is a true pleasure but I have gained much experience by having the wind pick up while in flight!
I would highly recommend this plane to other beginners. The parts are readily available and even when I had a throttle control issue after a few flights, the support representative at Hobby Zone was fantastic and had the new part to me overnight with no charge.
Great experience all the way around with this plane!

Super Cub Fun
by: Anonymous

I finally got into the airplane side of the hobby and was scared so I thought the Super cub to be the perfect guinea pig. Well, I am now hooked and the parts are very easy to get and extremely cheap. I had to replace the firewall $2.79 after a bad crash because I tried to fly in high winds. Not a good idea with a plane this light. I also broke up a nose cone on the same crash...only $1.79. I have logged quite a few flights now and actually never use the ACT nor have I ever used the ACT because this plane is cake to fly. I painted it to make it easier to see and it really paints up nicely. My confidence is now up and I have proven to myself that I am ready. Once I perform that first loop I am going to the hobby shop and Buying a scale plane...most likely a WWII plane. Thank you Hobby Zone for installing in me some confidence.

Upgrades on Super Cub
by: Zane

Hi!!! I have Hobbyzone Super Cub BNF. First problem I had was with the ACT.. Read online that it can be disabled by disconnecting from the receiver. After disconnecting it haven't had any trouble.
I run through 4 batteries ever (2) 1500 and (2) 1350 gives me about an hour plus of flying. I changed the wheels to 2 1/2" and changed the axle supports from plastic to aluminum - found them as exact replacements online. Work alot better on landings on grass, as the small tires don't roll well on mowed field grass.
Hobbyzone Super Cub is a great starter plane. tnx Zane
