Megatech Freedom Flyer RTF
The Megatech Freedom Flyer is another addition to the MT range of RTF electric rc airplanes that are all perfectly suited to first-time / intermediate flyers, or indeed to any rc pilot in search of some lower cost easy rc flying.
The Freedom Flyer has the classic high-wing trainer design that ensures good stability and reliable flight characteristics but goes one step beyond the basic trainer airplane with its more powerful 400 size electric motor, making it capable of some proper aerobatic maneuvers and powering it along at speeds of up to 50mph.
A great feature of the Freedom Flyer is the option to upgrade to 4 channel, with the special aileron upgrade kit - this upgrade ensures that the airplane is capable of some very smooth aerobatics, and better directional control.
Like the other RTF airplanes in the range, being completely ready to fly means that it's only motor battery charging time before you can take to the skies - the radio gear is fully installed and set-up, ready to go.
Interestingly, Megatech have made all the rc components removable so that you can switch them to future models should you wish, as your experience grows.
A strong and well-sprung tricycle undercarriage means that the Freedom Flyer has no trouble with normal take-offs and landings, or can of course be hand launched if flying in an area of long grass or bumpier terrain.
Flight times, as with most of these electric rc airplanes, vary around the 10 minute mark depending on what you do with it, wind conditions etc. etc.
A nice addition is the instructional video CD included in the package, which contains all the information needed to get you started with this model.

Summary: the Megatech Freedom Flyer is the most popular of Megatech's range of RTF electric rc airplanes aimed at beginner / intermediate rc pilots. As a first time model, the Freedom Flyer has all the characteristics of a good, stable trainer but it's also capable of more demanding flying for when you've mastered the basics, especially with the addition of ailerons.
All in all, a very good 'all round' sport electric airplane that's proved to be a big hit with electric flyers.
