Megatech Wright Flyer
The Megatech Wright Flyer RTF electric rc airplane (shop for it on eBay) has been developed to celebrate 100 years of Aviation - December 17 1903 marked the very beginning of a new era when an American cycle shop owner named Orville Wright flew the very first "heavier-than-air" craft over a distance of 122 feet, watched by his brother Wilbur.
Flying the Megatech Wright Flyer is "no less a thrilling experience", so say the manufacturers, no matter what your level of radio control flying may be. This fun little electric rc airplane has been designed specifically with the complete beginner in mind, and it's a great airplane to buy the youngsters because of its simplicity!
The Wright Flyer is a 2-channel RTF electric powered airplane with very stable flying characteristics. It has a wingspan of just 15.5 inches and weighs in at just under 3oz, making it an ideal airplane to fly in smaller areas such as parks and yards, or even in an indoor flying venue such as a sports hall.
Twin electric motors control altitude and direction, and the NiMH motor battery pack (extra pack supplied) only takes minutes to charge and gives flight times of around 5 minutes.
As a scale RTF park flyer, there is nothing to do to prepare the Wright Flyer for flight, other than the obvious charging of the battery pack and the installation of the transmitter batteries (8AA required, not supplied).
Another nice little touch is the numbered Certificate of Authenticity that comes with the airplane, supported by the Wright Family Fund charitable foundation - potentially making this little park flyer a future collector's item!
Incidentally, the genuine Wright Flyer is on display at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum in Washington D.C - well worth a look if you're in the area, but allow lots of time to see the whole museum!
