My first (very short) RC flight

by Mike
(Florida Panhandle)

I purchased a Great Planes Syncro Ducted fan with a glider and an airplane wing. I think this is good for the first time flyer since it can be flown as a glider until you feel comfortable enough to try the airplane.
Well I thought I had everything right so I walked it down to the school, launched it, it took right off and all was well for 1-2 seconds. Then I needed to turn left. Push stick left, airplane goes right.... took me another 2 seconds to wrap my head around what I did wrong, by then it was too late.
It promply rolled inverted, stalled and came pretty much straight down. I picked up the pieces (thinking I had ruined the plane) and went home. One unglued servo, one wing crack where the left/right wing mate up, and that was all of the damage!
I have now reversed the servo on the transmitter, triple checked all the controls for moving the proper way (I know, should have been something I did BEFORE I flew it but the anticipation of my first flight got the best of me).

Pre-flight checks!
by: Pete

You're not the first guy to have done that Mike. Actually it probably happens more than you'd think, but it's something that should never happen!
Try and get in to the important habit of doing some essential pre-flight checks (http://www.rc-airplane-world.com/rc-airplane-pre-flight-checks.html) before your flying sessions!

Hi - same happened to me, I had gotten my first ever plane for Christmas and was delighted. First sign of light the next day I wandered over to the field plane in hand.
After my friend hand launched it I locked up
the plane went straight into the ground an inch and I was devastated till I got home when it turned out to be an easily gluable snapped rudder support and a slightly dented servo.
After getting the great DEMO of the ReaFlight G4 I practised and performed a few maneuvers and a slightly useless landing the very next week;
the demo is great, it's the same thing with none of the confusing features.
