The Nitro Alpha Trainer 60
The Nitro Alpha Trainer 60 is a larger than average gas powered rc trainer airplane that is capable of handling windier conditions, as well as being easier to see at a distance.
Learning to fly rc on a larger size model is never a bad thing, but it really comes down to personal preference as to whether you want to go for something bigger or stay with the smaller, 'standard' 40 size trainer.

Another difference the Alpha 60 has to most other gas trainers lies in the power unit - a '60' size (.61 cu.in.) glow plug Evolution engine that has been run-in and pre-tuned at the factory, and has been built with very "beginner-friendly" features in mind to make starting and running the motor that much easier.
The Evolution series of engines have all been designed and built with these features which cuts out the frustrating problems that sometimes come with running in and tuning a new engine (the motor settings have been adjusted accordingly and certain inbuilt limitations restrict incorrect tuning while on the field).
Also, the propeller used on the Nitro Alpha Trainer 60 is a specially designed 3-bladed one rather than the standard 2-bladed prop found on the majority of rc airplanes.
This special prop gives the Alpha 60 a great climb rate and slower speeds at higher engine revs, which basically translates into greater control. The design of the prop also gives a much lower level of noise compared to a standard 2 blade prop of similar measurements.
The motor of the Alpha Trainer 60 is shown below:
The Alpha Trainer 60 comes 99% RTF (Ready to Fly) with the 4 channel radio control gear and motor installed. The radio gear is the hugely popular and reliable Quattro system by JR - one of the leading radio control gear brands. The Quattro is a popular choice of radio gear because it's not loaded up with features and switches that you'll never use, yet it's more than adequate as a first-time radio set.
The construction of the model is very solid and is covered in the tough and smart looking Ultracote™ covering. The small amount of finishing work that has to be done can be completed in under an hour according to the manufacturer's recommendations - then it's off to the flying field!
