RC helicopter channels
by: Pete

Not all rc helicopters require so many channels, but the basic ones are throttle, left/right cyclic, fore/aft cyclic, collective pitch and yaw.
Additional channels will be on the transmitter switches and dials, and can include throttle hold, idle up and down (usually for aerobatic flying), in-flight gyro adjustments for example, plus their may be additional requirements such as retractable landing gear, on-board camera operation... It just depends on the helicopter in question.
