RIP RTF ParkZone Spitfire

(Pheonix)

Being in the Military I wanted to get a small electric rc plane so I could readily fly when I wanted to. With help from my wife I opted for the RTF Spitfire from ParkZone...
I was a little nervous to be going to a smaller electric aircraft compared to the 2 strokes I built back home, which gave me plenty of power and manuverability. After balancing and getting a full charge I went for a test flight and noticed my pitch was a little squirrely. Being gutsy (okay, with a little stupidity thrown in), I rolled inverted and used down elevator and the Spitfire fell like a brick!
With the nose ripped off I picked up the pieces of the plastic frame and foam fuselage and headed home. As I do with all was-an-airplane wreckage I salvaged parts for the next-to-be disaster and noticed the two sided tape used to adhere the frame to the fuselage still had it's paper backing. Granted it was pilot error for not checking more closely, and it did explain why in flight I didn't have the needed pitch control. If you have or are planning to get a ParkZone RTF, you many want to take a closer look and learn from my mistake.

Great advice Aaron, an easily overlooked mistake that killed the Spit, d'oh!
I guess it's a big lesson in 'read the instructions first', but many folks, myself included, just jump right in then use the instructions to see what went wrong!
