Thunder Tiger 'Raptor'

The Thunder Tiger Raptor gas powered rc helicopter is widely recognized to be one of the best entry level model rc helicopters available, but is also being used in upgraded versions by advanced 3D model helicopter pilots too, because of its great handling characteristics.

If you're new to the world of rc helicopters, the term '3D' flying means that all manner of maneuvers are performed, with a lot of inverted flying thrown in for good measure. A good 3D rc helicopter pilot can make his (or her) model do things that helicopters shouldn't be able to do! It's the highest level of model helicopter flying.

So it's a fine testament then, to the Raptor, that it's used for such demanding flying but at the other end of the learning curve the Raptor has also taught a lot of new rc heli pilots to fly to a high degree, from scratch.
The model is based around the '30' size, that's to say that it uses a .30cu.in. - or 30 - glow plug motor which is the most common size for entry level helicopters to use.

Being a Thunder Tiger model means that quality is assured and a wide range of upgrade options and spare parts are available for the Raptor.
The model comes as ARF (Almost Ready To Fly) and RTF (Ready To Fly) so there's very little finishing work to be done. It's been designed very robustly and can withstand some pretty hefty landings which are inevitable in the early days of learning to fly an rc helicopter!

Training skids can of course be fitted to reduce the likelihood of damage near to the ground but of course it's highly recommended that lessons are sought if you have no experience with this kind of model.
Have a look at our FAQ page or the rc helicopters page for further ideas on learning to fly a model heli.

All in all, the Thunder Tiger Raptor is a very good choice if you're looking to start flying multi-channel gas rc helicopters.
