Transmitter Modes - 1 or 2?

by Darren
(Devon)

Hi there, I have just about cracked rc airplanes now on 4 channel (nitro) but have got used to the ailerons on the left stick with the throttle, is this correct or is it best to swap it to the right? Much appreciated.

Transmitter Modes & ailerons
by: Pete

Hi Darren, that sounds like you're flying with a 'Mode 4' tx, throttle and aileron on left stick and rudder and elevator on the right?
Most UK flyers fly Mode 1 with throttle and ailerons on the right stick, and Mode 2 is the norm in the USA, where elevator and ailerons are on the right stick.

Mode 4 isn't very common and you'll come unstuck when you try and fly someone else's plane on Mode 1. Having said that, it's not essential to change - if you're used to flying Mode 4 and are quite happy doing it, then stick with it - but just bear in mind that most other transmitters will be different.
