Tx Mode and model compatibility

by Matt
(Los Angeles)

I was given a Free Wing F6F Hellcat RTF that came with a mode 2 tx. I'm new to the hobby and want to know if (1) I can switch the tx to mode 2 and/or (2) if I can buy a mode 2 tx that will still work with it - what exactly are the conditions for making sure a tx and a model are compatible?

Tx Mode and model compatibility
by: Pete

Changing tx modes is possible, but the ease of the job depends on the transmitter. It usually involves removing the tx back, swapping the elevator stick spring over to the other side and possibly changing a few wires here and there, although some tx's do have a mode changing switch.
The mode of the tx is irrelevant to the model, there aren't any compatibility issues with modes and models, it's just whichever you prefer; the throttle on the left or right stick.
